With women traveling farther and later into their pregnancies a wave of babymoons is on the rise. Taking a little break to connect with your partner and relax before become a parent (for the first or third time), seems like a required step for all parents to be. But, planning a babymoon is not like all your other trips, so we’ve prepared a few things to consider and a list of ideal spots to hit, so you can pack your bags comfortably and get out of town worry free.

  1. Chose a domestic destination or a tropical getaway.

  2. Minimize Travel Time: Whether your sitting in a car or plane, you want to get to your relaxing destination as quickly and effortlessly as possible. Opt for direct flights, and short distance drives, ideally somewhere between 1-4 hours from home.

  3. Make sure medical facilities are nearby. Research hospitals and keep info on hand. You should share this information with the hotel property and make sure they have information to your OB too.

  4. Protect yourself by visiting Zika Free areas. Check the CDC website for up-to-date information. while we’re hearing less about it, many places are still considered high risk. Check the website and consult with your doctor.

  5. Protect your trip: Book hotels that have a flexible cancellation policy, in case your plans change. If you must prepay your trip for any reason, purchase travel insurance to protect your investment.
